1. Overview & Summary

To build your branded OEM app powered by the YACHTWAVE Delivery Platform, we need specific graphic assets from you. These assets are used to create your app icon, splash screen, and store listings on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Important: Our build system (Expo) uses high-resolution source images and automatically generates all required sizes for every device. You only need to provide the assets listed below — we handle the rest.

3. iOS App Icon

Apple requires a single high-resolution icon that is used across all iOS devices and the App Store listing. iOS automatically applies rounded corners — do not add rounded corners to your artwork.

Property Requirement
Dimensions 1024 × 1024 pixels
Format PNG
Color Space sRGB or Display P3
Transparency Not allowed — must be fully opaque
Rounded Corners Do not add — iOS applies these automatically
Layers/Alpha No alpha channel, no transparent pixels

No Transparency: Apple will reject your app if the icon contains any transparent pixels. The entire 1024×1024 canvas must be filled with color. If your logo has a transparent background, place it on a solid background color first.

Design Recommendations

  • Use a simple, recognizable design that works at small sizes (29×29 px on device)
  • Avoid placing fine text in the icon — it becomes unreadable on smaller devices
  • Use a solid background color that contrasts with your logo
  • Center your logo within the canvas with adequate padding (approx. 15–20% margin)
  • Test how your icon looks with iOS rounded corners applied (~17.5% corner radius)

4. Android Adaptive Icon

Android uses an "adaptive icon" system where the icon is split into two layers: a foreground layer (your logo) and a background layer (a solid color). Device manufacturers apply different shaped masks (circle, squircle, rounded square, etc.) to create the final icon appearance.

You provide the foreground layer. We set the background color automatically from your primary brand color.

Property Requirement
Dimensions 432 × 432 pixels (foreground layer)
Format PNG with transparency
Safe Zone Center 66% of the canvas (see below)
Background Transparent — we apply your primary brand color
Foreground Content Your logo/icon on a transparent background

Understanding the Safe Zone

This is the most critical part of Android icon design. Because different device manufacturers use different mask shapes, content near the edges will be cropped. Google defines a safe zone in the center of the icon where your artwork is guaranteed to be visible on all devices.

Android Adaptive Icon Safe Zone
Full Canvas: 432 × 432 px (108 dp)
Safe Zone: 66% (285 × 285 px / 66 dp)
Full canvas (may be cropped)
Safe zone (always visible)
Your logo

Safe Zone Rule: All important artwork (your logo, brand mark, wordmark) must fit within the center 66% of the canvas. On a 432×432 image, this means your logo must stay within a centered 285×285 pixel area. Anything outside this area may be clipped by device masks.

Measurement dp (Design Units) Pixels (at 1024px) Description
Full Canvas 108 × 108 dp 432 × 432 px Total image area including bleed
Safe Zone 66 × 66 dp ~285 × 285 px Guaranteed visible area (center circle)
Margin Each Side 21 dp ~73 px Area that may be clipped

Mask Shapes Used by Device Manufacturers

Android OEMs (Samsung, Google, OnePlus, etc.) each apply their own mask shape. Your icon must look good in all of these:

Circle
Squircle
Rounded Square

Tip: The easiest way to ensure your icon works across all masks is to keep your logo small and centered. If it fits within the circular safe zone, it will look great in every shape.

5. Google Play Store Listing Icon

Google Play requires a separate high-resolution icon specifically for your store listing page. This is different from the adaptive icon used on devices.

Property Requirement
Dimensions 512 × 512 pixels
Format 32-bit PNG
Color Space sRGB
Max File Size 1024 KB (1 MB)
Shape Full square — Google applies a rounded mask automatically
Corner Radius Do not add — Google applies 30% radius (~154 px) dynamically
Drop Shadow Do not add — Google applies shadows dynamically
Transparency Avoid when possible — use a solid background color

Google Dynamic Processing: Google Play automatically applies a rounded mask (30% corner radius) and drop shadow to your icon. Submit a full 512×512 square image with no rounded corners and no shadow. If you add these yourself, the result will look doubled and incorrect.

Design Rules

  • Your artwork can extend to the edges (full bleed is allowed)
  • Do not include text about rankings, promotions, or pricing in the icon
  • Do not include Google Play badges or program icons
  • Icons not meeting specifications are automatically scaled to 75% and converted to legacy format

6. Splash Screen Logo

The splash screen is the first thing your customers see when they open the app. We display your logo centered on a screen filled with your primary brand color.

Property Requirement
Dimensions 512 × 512 pixels (or larger, any reasonable size)
Format PNG with transparency
Background Transparent — we apply your primary brand color as the full-screen background
Content Your logo or wordmark centered on the canvas

What to provide: Just your logo on a transparent background. Do not create a full-screen splash image. We center your logo on a solid background using your primary brand color — this looks clean and professional on every screen size.

Design Recommendations

  • White or light-colored logos work best on dark brand color backgrounds
  • If your primary color is light, provide a dark version of your logo
  • Horizontal/wide logos are fine — the image will be scaled to fit the screen width with padding
  • Avoid very thin lines or fine detail that may not render well on small screens

7. Brand Colors

We use your brand colors throughout the app experience, including the status bar, splash screen, icon backgrounds, and UI accents. Please provide three colors in hex format.

Color Usage Example
Primary Color Status bar, splash background, Android icon background, safe areas #0478CC
Secondary Color Secondary UI elements, accents #4AA6E8
Tertiary Color Accent details, highlights #13CE8B

8. Store Listing Text & Copy

Both Apple and Google require text content for your store listing pages. The following table compares what is needed for each platform.

Item Apple App Store Google Play Store
App Name / Title Max 30 characters Max 30 characters
Subtitle / Short Description Max 30 characters Max 80 characters
Full Description Max 4,000 characters Max 4,000 characters
Support URL / Email Mandatory Mandatory (email required)
Support Phone Number Optional Required
Contact Name Required Required
Test / Demo Login Required if app requires login Required if app requires login

Tip: Apple's subtitle (30 chars) is much shorter than Google's short description (80 chars). You may want to prepare two versions of your tagline — a concise one for Apple and a slightly longer one for Google Play.

Support Contact: Both stores require a support URL or email. Google Play additionally requires a phone number. Please also provide a contact name for the store listing.

9. Store Listing Graphics

Both stores require screenshot images and marketing graphics for your listing pages.

Apple App Store

Asset Size Notes
App Screenshots (iPhone 6.7") 1290 × 2796 px Required. Min 3, max 10. PNG or JPEG, no alpha/transparency.
