What is this? Your YACHTWAVE account itself — your name, email, mobile number, how we contact you, support access, and sign-out. The behind-the-scenes screen, not the boat-content screen.
The Basics
This area has two related screens:
- Profile — who you are: first and last name, email, and mobile phone. The information that travels with you when you crew on someone else’s boat.
- Settings — how YACHTWAVE contacts you: notification channels, which emails you want, and support access.
The My Account screen itself is the way in to both, and also holds Help & Feedback, Release Notes (what changed in this version), Delete Account, Logout, and links to the Terms and Privacy Policy.
You’ll spend most of your time in YACHTWAVE on the boat-content screens (My Boats, Tasks, etc.). The Account area is somewhere you visit occasionally — when a phone number changes, when you want to dial notifications up or down, or when you need to grant support access.
Key Things on These Screens
Profile
- First and last name — what other crew members see when you log a change or add a task.
- Email — the address you use to sign in (and where YACHTWAVE emails you).
- Country Code and Mobile — where verification codes go. Keep this current.
- Save — saves your profile. If you changed your email or mobile number, you’re asked for a verification code first.
Settings
- Notifications — three switches, one per channel: Email Notifications, SMS / Text Notifications, and Push Notifications. See Notifications.
- Notification Preferences — the kinds of email you’re willing to receive. Account & Security emails are marked Required and can’t be turned off. The three switches are Product & System Updates, Tips & Resources, and Offers & Promotions. These are separate from notifications; turning off offers doesn’t stop an alert about your boat.
- Permit Support Team Access (under Support) — lets YACHTWAVE support look at your account to investigate a problem. Off by default, and you’re asked to confirm before it turns on.
- No Save button — each change saves itself a moment after you flip a switch, and you see a short “updated” message. Saving needs a connection.
On the My Account Screen Itself
- Help & Feedback — opens a new email to [email protected] so you can tell us what’s working and what isn’t.
- Release Notes — what’s new and what’s been fixed in the version you’re running.
- Delete Account — permanently removes your account. You’re asked to type a confirmation first.
- Logout — ends your session on this device. You’re asked to confirm.
What Language YACHTWAVE Appears In
YACHTWAVE follows your phone’s language. There’s no language setting in the app — change the language on your device and YACHTWAVE follows.
Spanish, French (Canadian), French (France), German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazilian), Greek, Turkish, Dutch, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish are supported, alongside English. Any other language shows English.
This is new and still settling in, so you may still come across a screen in English. If you do, tell us at [email protected] and say which screen it was.
How to Update Your Phone Number
- Open Account → Edit Profile.
- Tap the Mobile field.
- Enter the new number.
- Tap Save.
- Enter the verification code you’re sent, to confirm the new number.
- Future verification codes (for signing in on a new device) go to the new number.
How to Enable Support Team Access
- Open Account → Settings.
- Under Support, find Permit Support Team Access.
- Turn the switch on, then tap Confirm.
- Email
[email protected]to let them know they can investigate. - When the issue is resolved, turn the switch back off.
How to Set Your Notification Preferences
- Open Account → Settings.
- Under Notifications, switch Email Notifications, SMS / Text Notifications, and Push Notifications on or off. These control how YACHTWAVE reaches you about your boats.
- Under Notification Preferences, switch Product & System Updates, Tips & Resources, and Offers & Promotions on or off.
- That’s it — each change saves itself. You need a connection for the change to stick.
Recommended: leave Push Notifications on — it’s how time-sensitive things (overdue tasks, service due, expiring documents) reach you. Turn Offers & Promotions off if you’d rather only hear from us about your boats.
How to Delete Your Account
- Open Account.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Type delete account to confirm.
This is permanent. If you’d rather talk it through first, email [email protected].
Tips
- Keep your phone number current. It’s where verification codes go for new-device sign-ins. A wrong number when you switch phones means a slow support email to get back in.
- Use Support Access sparingly. Turn it on when needed, turn it off when done. Don’t leave it on as a default.
- Notifications and emails are two different lists. Turning off Offers & Promotions doesn’t touch alerts about your boats, and turning off push doesn’t stop Product & System Updates emails. If something unwanted keeps arriving, check the other list.
- Check Release Notes after an update. It’s the fastest way to find out why something moved.
Troubleshooting
- “I changed my email and now I can’t log in.” — Use the new email when signing in. The verification code still goes to your registered mobile number. If the email change didn’t go through, contact
[email protected]. - “I tapped Logout and now can’t sign back in.” — Sign in normally with your email; you’ll get a fresh verification code by text. There’s no separate “stay signed in” toggle — every sign-in goes through verification.
- “Notifications I disabled keep arriving.” — Notifications and email preferences are separate lists, so check both. If it’s push you’re trying to stop, also check that YACHTWAVE still has notification permission in your phone’s own settings — the app switch and the phone switch both have to be on for push to arrive.
- “My settings didn’t save.” — Saving settings needs a connection because they live on your account, not on the phone. If you’re offline you’re told so, and the change isn’t kept. Check your signal, then flip the switch again.
- “YACHTWAVE is in English but my phone isn’t.” — Your language may not be one of the 13 supported besides English, or that particular screen may not be translated. See “What language YACHTWAVE appears in” above.
Frequently Asked
Can I have more than one YACHTWAVE account?
Yes, but most users don't need to. One account follows you across every boat you own and every boat you crew on. Multiple accounts would mean managing multiple inboxes of notifications.
How do I change my email address?
Open Edit Profile, tap Email, enter the new address, tap Save. You'll need to enter a verification code before the change is saved. Your verification text-message number stays the same unless you also update Mobile.
Can I delete my account?
Yes — Account → Delete Account, then type delete account to confirm. It's permanent, so if you have questions about what happens to boats you've shared, email [email protected] before you do it.
How do I change the language?
In your phone's settings, not in YACHTWAVE. The app follows whatever language your device is set to.
Why is Support Access off by default?
Privacy. Off-by-default means the support team can't peek at your account without your explicit opt-in. When you need help, flip it on; when you're done, flip it off.
Where do I update payment information for a Fleet subscription?
Not on your phone. My Fleet → Subscription shows your plan, but the fleet screens are view-only on a phone. Tap the Fleet Administration on Web Version banner to open the YACHTWAVE web app and make changes there.
