What is this? A live status view for a new boat that’s being built for you. Shows where your boat is in the manufacturer’s production process, what action items are waiting on you, and any factory or dealer photos of the build.
The Build Information tile appears on the Dashboard only for vessels that have a build in progress (the yacht was added through a participating manufacturer or dealer). If your boat is already delivered and you’re just managing it, you won’t see this tile.
The Basics
When you order a new boat from a participating YACHTWAVE manufacturer, dealer, or yard, your yacht in the app is connected to the manufacturer’s build pipeline. Build Information is the window into that pipeline. It has three tabs:
- Status — a step-by-step indicator showing where your boat is in production. Each step lights up as the build moves through it.
- Customer Actions — things you need to do for the build to keep moving (e.g. final fit-and-finish selections, payments, document signing). A red alert appears when there’s an outstanding action.
- Photos — factory or dealer photos uploaded as the build progresses. Looking inside your boat as it’s being built is half the fun of a new boat.
The information here is pushed to you by the manufacturer or dealer — you don’t add steps or photos yourself. You just watch (and act when prompted).
Key Things on This Screen
- Step indicator (Status tab) — A horizontal progression of build stages. Completed steps are filled in; the current step is highlighted; future steps are dim. A red dot on a step means there’s a customer action attached to it.
- Customer Action tile (Tasks tab) — One per outstanding action. Title, due date, status. Tap to open the full task.
- No-actions state — When you’re caught up, the screen says so (no actions outstanding). That’s the goal — it means the ball’s not in your court.
- Photo grid (Photos tab) — Photos posted by the manufacturer or dealer. Tap to view full-screen.
- Share Build link — Some boat owners like sharing build progress with family. There’s a share action that creates a link you can text or email.
How to Act on a Customer Action
- Open Build Information and switch to the Tasks tab.
- Tap any tile with an alert or “needs attention” indicator.
- Read the action — it tells you what the manufacturer or dealer needs from you (a decision, a signature, a payment, a deposit, a confirmation).
- Follow the instructions. Some actions resolve in-app; others link out to a payment portal, a document signer, or a phone number to call.
- Once the manufacturer marks it complete on their end, the action disappears from your list.
Tips
- Check Build Information weekly. The build moves on its own schedule, but customer actions sit until you respond. A weekly habit means you never become the bottleneck.
- Photos are gold. Save the ones you want long-term to your phone’s camera roll — they’re a great record of how the boat was put together (and they show beautifully on the wall of the boat after delivery).
- The Status tab is also your handoff record. When you take delivery, the completed step list shows the production milestones the boat went through.
- Share the build with family or partners. Use the Share Build action to send a link — they don’t need a YACHTWAVE account to view.
Troubleshooting
- “I don’t see Build Information on my Dashboard.” — The tile only appears for boats with an active build. If your boat is already delivered, the tile is hidden by design. If your boat is being built and you don’t see it, the manufacturer hasn’t connected your yacht to their build pipeline yet — contact your dealer.
- “A step isn’t lighting up but the dealer says we’ve passed it.” — Status updates come from the manufacturer’s system. There’s sometimes a lag of hours or a day before status syncs to YACHTWAVE. If a step is stuck for more than a few days, contact your dealer.
- “I completed a customer action but it’s still showing.” — Customer actions clear when the manufacturer marks them complete on their end. If you’ve handled an action and it’s still showing days later, reach out to your dealer or
[email protected]to investigate. - “There’s an action I don’t understand.” — Customer actions are written by the manufacturer or dealer. If something is unclear (or you don’t recognize the request), don’t act on it blindly — contact your dealer first to confirm.
Frequently Asked
Who can see my Build Information?
You, anyone you've added as a crew member on the yacht, and the manufacturer or dealer that initiated the build. Nobody else.
Why does my build show steps I don't understand?
The step names come from your specific manufacturer's process. A 60-foot motor yacht has different steps than a 30-foot sailboat. Ask your dealer if a step's name is unfamiliar — they can explain what's happening at that stage.
Can I message the manufacturer through Build Information?
Not directly today. Customer actions can include phone numbers or links the dealer wants you to use. For general communication, use the contact method your dealer set up.
What happens to Build Information after my boat is delivered?
The Build Information tile is hidden once the build is marked complete on the manufacturer's side. The data (steps you went through, photos, completed customer actions) is archived with the yacht — useful for resale or service history.
